This month, we tapped into a real Maine power: your brainpower.
Meetings with Bendable Maine stakeholders—librarians, public officials, nonprofit leaders and others—were held in Lewiston and Bangor in early March. And the ideas flowed. (Virtual sessions will take place later this month for those who couldn’t attend in person.)
Among other things, participants provided valuable insight into the kinds of learning content that they’d like to see included in the lifelong learning system, and shared tips on courses and classes in their local area that should be featured in the Bendable Maine catalog.
Portions of the meetings were dedicated to explaining how to put together Bendable Community Collections—personal learning playlists in which Maine residents will be able to share resources (books, podcasts, videos, etc.) on subjects in which they have deep personal knowledge or professional expertise.
While Community Collections are being created, the Bendable Maine team encourages you to send in your suggestions and take part in Power Hours, one-hour online lectures and workshops covering a variety of topics. You will find a list of upcoming Power Hours in the events section of the Maine State Library Facebook page. And if you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know for a future Power Hour or potential Community Collection, kindly let us know by completing the survey here.
