Creative Cow has been a go-to resource for filmmakers forever. The content on this peer-to-peer support site for media professionals is always up to date and has gotten me out of plenty of binds, especially when it comes to Final Cut and Adobe Premiere. My favorite part is the community forums where you can ask dumb questions and people will answer for free.

Studio 304

I was doing some work for a voice-over and needed to find a studio for cheap. Studio 304 at the library has media rooms, gear, courses and professionals to help you out. And it's free with your library card!

Street Dreams

A big part of getting started as a filmmaker is finding inspiration. I look to a lot of places—Vimeo, YouTube, Tumblr—but my go-to has to be Instagram. Street Dreams is an amazing quarterly publication that always inspires me to come up with fresh shots.

Ivy Tech Visual Communications Program

One great way to up your film game is to take a class. Indiana University South Bend and Ivy Tech both offer film classes that are fairly inexpensive. At Ivy Tech, my buddy Ryan Blaske is one of the instructors, and he has the chops to improve anyone's skills.
